Competition Rules & Regulations
Schedules:
Schedules will be posted one week prior to event date and
updated continually up to the date of the event. Schedules
should not be considered final until the day of the event,
as “last minute” entries may be accepted. All teams and
participants must be lined up and ready to perform no later
than 25 minutes prior to their scheduled performance time.
Note that a 5 point penalty will be assessed to any team or
participant not ready to perform at their assigned time,
unless the delay is caused by technical difficulties and/or
is out of the control of the team or participant.
Props &
Backdrop Usage: Stage sets, curtains and/or other props
for routines should be constructed to fit through a 7 foot
tall single door, as found at most school gymnasiums.
Backdrops may not be manipulated during the routine. Props,
curtains and stage sets may have minor assembly on the
floor, but setup and breakdown time for props and staging
will be added to the actual routine performance time length
to produce total floor time. Total floor time should not
exceed 5 minutes for all dance categories except team
production, which will be granted a 10 minute total floor
time. Any exceptions must be approved by Prestige, at least
14 days prior to the event date.
Time Limits: Team routines, duets, small and large
ensembles may run a maximum of 3 minutes 30 seconds, with a
total floor time of no more than 5 minutes. Production
numbers may run up to a maximum of 8 minutes, with a total
floor time to be no more than 10 minutes. Solos may run up
to a maximum of 2 minutes 30 seconds, with a total floor
time of no more than 3 minutes.
Music: A Team representative must remain next to the
emcee table throughout the entire performance.
Please bring high quality
Compact Disc recordings of routine music
with you on the day of the competition. It's always a good
idea to bring a second copy of your compact discs as a
back-up. CASSETTE
TAPES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
All CDs must be clearly marked with the team name, routine
category, entry number and song name. Review the content of
the music for any inappropriate language or sounds. Music of
poor taste or poor quality will detract from your
performance and will affect scoring. It is suggested that
music time be recorded three to five seconds under the
maximum time allotted due to variations in music system
speed. Music times are final and cannot be disputed after
the competition.
NOTE:
Carefully review the content of your music for any
inappropriate language.
PrestigeDANCE events are
PG-Rated. Participants using music containing
inappropriate language will be disqualified from
competition. NO EXCEPTIONS!
NOTE: PrestigeDANCE events are DANCE competitions. No
cheers, chants, acrobatics, throws, pyramids or the like are
permitted for use as a routine or in a routine.
Choreography: All choreography should be suitable
for family viewing and always in good taste. Therefore,
point deductions in the overall impression and/or appearance
of the routine will be assessed for profanity (in music or
spoken), inappropriate and/or vulgar or explicit movements.
Performance Area: Performances will be on a
regulation size basketball court (96' x 50'.) Please note
that solos and ensembles may be on a stage at some
locations. Notice of stage performances will be sent out
with competition packets.
Prop/Shoe Regulations:
All props and shoes must be detailed with rubber or safe
material that will not damage performance area floor. The
school, studio, or performer will be held responsible for
any damages that may occur. Tap shoes are not allowed
directly on gym floor. In order to be eligible to
participate with a tap routine, please bring appropriate tap
boards or other protective surface(s).
Food and Concessions: The host school will
provide concessions with ample food and drinks throughout
the competition day. Please support the host school or group
by making your food and drink purchases from them. No
outside food or drinks will be permitted.
Sportsmanship: Consideration of all participants is
expected at all times. Failure to comply with this
Sportsmanship Rule may result in immediate disqualification.
